Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength

"Those who wait upon the Lord renew their strength; they mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

Waiting on the Lord is not easy.  When you are facing a trial that seems like it will never end, the reminder to wait faithfully on Him is hard to apply when you are weary and discouraged.  AND YET.  God promises to renew our strength when we wait on Him.  He promises us that we will run and not be weary.  We will walk and not faint.  Renew.  Of course I looked it up.  And the definition for renew is "to make new or as if new again."  He doesn't give us just enough energy, encouragement or strength to go on: He restores it.

I really meditated on the picture of mounting up on wings like eagles. There is no more FREE picture than the picture of an eagle taking flight.  Soaring, no hindrance, freedom.  Waiting on the Lord should also free us, strengthen us and encourage us.

I am so grateful that I don't have to go through trials without help.  His help comes in abundance. Isaiah 8:17 says, "And I will wait on the Lord, Who hides His face from the house of Jacob; and I will hope in Him."  We can expect His help, His strength.

And yet, even in the hardest seasons of waiting, God invites us to fix our eyes on Him.  Where in your life right now are you being asked to wait upon the Lord? How will you choose to wait upon Him today, confident that His help comes in abundance?
