But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
When I am weak, I am actually strong? How does this work? 2 Corinthians 13:4 is the perfect support verse:
"For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you."
Think about this all practically. It's those days you can't get it quite right. And you have that gnawing feeling in your gut. Something is just "off". Whether it's how you treat your loved ones, or if you're trying to do it all and you feel mentally and physically exhausted, we all struggle with this in one manner or another. We're trying to "do life" on our own. And oh, how we can't. It's actually quite glorious that we can't. If we could, why would we need Him so desperately?
God told Paul that His grace was enough for him, and that His power is made perfect in weakness. He tells us His power rests upon us. When I am relying on Him, and not in my own strength, I am actually strong. When my own personal ability fails me, it is then that I see Him work the most. The greater my weakness, the more I see that I need His strength to carry me.
My prayer is that I will call out to Him to rely on His strength, rather than my own. I pray the same for you, dear friend.
Katherine
